Getting Out There

waterfall-boy-small.jpgDiscover the effect of the natural world on your body, mind and soul!

This new 2-year programme is all about appreciating the value of nature in helping you get away from it all, learn new skills, try new activities, develop new ways of working and enhance your creative work.

It comprises day trips, weekends away, camps, residentials, volunteer progression opportunities, training and work experience.

Getting Out There connects inner city communities with City Farms, Rural Community Farms, woodland managers, protected landscapes and campsites. It makes links between young people and families from Bristol and urban Somerset with the natural environment through a stepping-stone approach.

It offers opportunites at local sites, venues close to towns as well as further a field in ‘deeper country’ such as Exmoor National Park. All include activities that have proven popular with young people and families - be it arts, music, media, bush craft, forest school or other outdoor activities. The approach is designed to allow everyone to be able to access a variety of natural/rural places in the future and to build new relationships across cultural and geographical divides.

The  ‘Getting Out There’ programme is supported by Natural England through “Access to Nature” as part of the Big Lottery Fund’s Changing Spaces programme –

We are seeking to create a bank of sessional workers to draw upon as needed.
