Tikambilanie International Community Arts Company from Zambia and State of Emergency are experts in using the arts to deal with community issues and will run a two- day programme of performance and workshops. The package they offer includes:
Day 1 Continuing Professional Development training led by George Daka and Philip Kaluba of Kamoto Community Theatre. These experts in the use of dance and drama for engagement with community and social issues, lead a day of Continuing Professional Development for dance practitioners on the use of dance as a tool for the exploration of social issues.
Day 2 Putting into practice and applying the work with four Bristol secondary schools. The day begins with a performance of No Time choreographed by Irven Lewis and danced by Karensa Louis with music by American Poet Bridget Gray (My Letter to Hip Hop). This is the stimulus for the rest of the day’s work dealing with issues of sexism in Hip Hop, peer pressure and gang crime.
