Autumn Fire (October 2013)

Working in the natural environment to support foster and adoptive families

Due to the sensitive nature of the children involved we are unable to show pictures from the project.

This two-day event was organised for Our Place - a voluntary sector organisation providing support to foster and adoptive families and took place at Boiling Wells, part of St Werburgh’s City Farm. This gave the opportunity for the children, young people and families, as well as Our Place, to develop a relationship with this valued facility in the heart of the city and experience the value of its accessibility to some of the most disadvantaged communities in the city.

All participants reported in Circle Time at the end that they enjoyed the natural space, using masks and developing animal characters to explore the environment and create a film of their drama.

You really have put together two very different and lovely days for us and both days were hugely successful! Despite the fact that I was frozen most of today, I thought it was really a fun and wonderful programme, and your staff were superb! It all went off so well and everyone clearly had a really good time. The feel-good factor was very high!

The outdoor activities were stimulating, challenging and enjoyable and we have developed a very positive attitude to risk management.
