Kites

Kite flying is a wonderful outdoor activity on a windy day. To fly them, you’ll need somewhere high up and in the open - with no trees! Try Ashton Court, Blaise Castle, the Observatory on Clifton Downs, Eastville Park, any beach on a windy day.

Even better, build your own kite first. Kite-maker Nick James offers workshops in kite-making including the history of kites, how they are made and how they fly. He is very experienced in working with children of all ages.

For inspiration visit the Kite Festival held at Ashton Court every September.

Bristol’s local kite clubs, including Avon kite flyers.

Visit Kite Calendar for other kite festivals around the country.
